About me

I was born in 1989 in a sporty family in Waregem, Belgium. I’ve always played soccer and tennis. Beside that my parents often took me and my brother and sister on hiking trips in the mountains.
During my dental studies I kept on travelling with a main focus on hiking. I did trekkings in Corsica, the Pyrenees, the Alps, Iceland, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, … and I volunteered for one summer in some National Parks in the South-West of the US. Here I heard about the concept of Long Trails (more specifically the P.C.T. and the A.T.) and they came high on my bucketlist. Over the year it became my absolute passion to be in the outdoors.
I ran my first marathon in 2014. In 2015 I competed in New Zealands wonderful Coast to Coast race. Here I realised I had a talent for running and I decided to explore this talent from then on. Since then I took on some very interesting and successful challenges: running the Marathon des Sables, setting the F.K.T. on the Pacific Crest Trail (2016) and setting the F.K.T. on the Appalachian Trail (2018).  In 2020 I’ll be moving from Ghent to the Belgian countryside, close the Flemish Ardens, to live there with my wife Emma & our 2 goats.
